Big trouble? A wave of store closures can come with the mandatory promotions
The introduction of the new mandatory promotion has caused concern among retailers, who say it could have serious consequences for the sector.
Experts speaking to Pénzcentrum point out that this means free advertising for larger store chains and discounters, since customers can find their promotions not only in their own publications, but also on the government’s website.
According to the CEO of Eger és Vidéke Coop Zrt., Sándor Sütő, the company group is trying to comply with the decree, but believes that inflation cannot be reduced with mandatory actions. In addition, he notes that the interventions that have taken place so far and the high energy prices have already had a negative impact on the retail sector.
