Norbert Nádházi became this year’s Hungarian sommelier champion
Norbert Nádházi, an employee of the Babel Budapest restaurant, won the title of Hungary’s sommelier champion 2023 at the 26th National Sommelier Championship in Veszprém on Sunday, the Hungarian Sommelier Association (Masosz) told MTI.
The championship was organized this year with the support and professional partnership of the Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture program series, within the framework of the Balaton Wine & Gourmet Festival in Veszprém, at the Betekints Wellness and Conference Hotel.
In the first round, the participants solved written and practical tasks, as a result of which the three could continue competing for the title of Hungarian Sommelier Champion 2023 in the final.
The finalists were able to give an account of, among other things, how they stand their ground in restaurant situations when champagne has to be served and drinks recommended for meals, as well as knowledge such as the recognition and professional description of different wines and spirits.
