Who is the king of ice cream?
Just like in 2020, Norbert Dobó’s ice cream won Ice Cream of the Year in 2022.
The winner, who is also the owner of Füredi Ice Cream Parlour in Balatonfüred, told our magazine that his creation, Blonde Gerbeaud, is the improved version of the gerbeaud ice cream he had made last year. It was very successful, but less complex than the new variant. He believes that Blonde Gerbeaud works well because the first taste delivers the classic gerbeaud cake flavour experience, but new details keep emerging as one continues enjoying the ice cream.
When asked what price customers will be willing to pay for a scoop of ice cream in the future, he told that they serve 600-650g portions for HUF 480, and the Ice Cream of the Year will be sold at the same price. Füredi Ice Cream Parlour now has a bigger workshop and storage room, so they can produce more ice cream while keep the artisan methods. This gives Mr Dobó the opportunity to open new confectioneries or supply others with ice cream. //
