The net sales revenue of fertilizer sales is 30 percent lower compared to the same period in 2022
Fertilizer distributors sold 561,000 tons of fertilizer directly to agricultural producers in the first half of 2023.
Due to the 11.4 percent lower fertilizer prices on average, in the first six months of 2023, the net sales revenue of fertilizer sales was 30 percent (HUF 139 billion) less compared to the same period in 2022.
The fact that the volume sold was 29.6 percent less than a year earlier also contributed to the drop in sales.
The nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK) active ingredient content of fertilizers purchased by agricultural producers in the first half of 2023 was 174 thousand tons, 84.6 thousand tons (-32.7 percent) less than a year earlier. The active ingredient content (nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) was 61-63 percent lower than in the base period. The ratio of NPK active ingredients in the first half of 2023 was 89:6:5, while a year earlier it was 79:11:10, i.e. in 2023 the ratio of nitrogen active ingredient increased by 10 percentage points, at the same time the ratio of potassium and phosphorus was 5-5 decreased by a percentage point.
