Job change motivations and job search habits in the domestic labor market
Many people are afraid of changing jobs, in which even making the decision can be a significant challenge, as the fear of the unknown instinctively awakens in employees. Employees often prefer to put up with unfavorable conditions at their current workplace rather than move and give up their existing, secure position. However, approaching the end of the year, they reconsider and reevaluate their current situation: employees often make the decision to change during the holidays.
Despite the fact that changing jobs is not easy, more than two-thirds of Hungarian employees have already thought about leaving not only their current company, but also their career and continuing their career in a completely new profession, according to a previous representative survey by Profession.hu. In this year’s research examining the attitudes of job seekers, the job portal assessed attitudes related to changing jobs.
Why did we change jobs anyway?
It is less of a challenge than a complete career change if the employee stays in his own profession and looks for a new job within it, since in this way he usually does not need significant retraining or the acquisition of completely new knowledge. Half of the people also find changing jobs stressful, but according to four out of ten respondents, this step is worth it, because with conscious planning and decision-making, the chances of getting the right position or a higher salary are much higher.
