Hot air ovens, or as almost everyone knows them, airfryer, are becoming increasingly popular, but many of you have probably only recently started using the kitchen appliance you received for Christmas. If you have never used an airfryer before, there are a few things that can be confusing at first, or different sources all suggest different things. So it’s time to dispel the misconceptions about hot air technology and get started on this year’s baking and cooking, which will be easier than we think. We will uncover 4+1 misconceptions about using airfryer, which can make everyday kitchen life even easier.

There is life beyond frozen fries

Many people think that the airfryer is only suitable for preparing frozen foods, such as french fries or chicken nuggets, but the device is much more versatile than that. We can grill meat, fish, vegetables, and even make cakes in it, including various sponge cakes or pies. Today, there are many recipes available that specify quantities, baking times, and temperatures specifically for airfryer. Small icons on some devices indicate which program we need to set to prepare each dish. The airfryer is therefore not only suitable for frying quick or semi-prepared meals, but also for complete dishes, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Fat-free?

The airfryer uses hot air technology, but this does not mean that you can completely avoid different fats. Be careful which of these you choose, since the use of olive oil in the airfryer is not recommended in some cases, and it is often better to work with margarine or other alternative fats instead. The explanation for this is that olive oil, especially the extra virgin variety, has a lower smoke point (about 160-190 °C) than some margarines, for example, of which it is worth using varieties intended for frying, such as the Rama vegetable butter alternative. These are better suited to airfryer technology, as they are less prone to overheating and smoking, so the food will not have an unpleasant smell and taste. Margarine melts easily and evenly coats the surface of the food. To enhance the taste experience, it is worth marinating the ingredients intended for frying: mix a few teaspoons of Rama Culinesse with your favorite spices, and coat the food with it before and even during frying. This is especially useful if you want to create a crispy crust.
