Iceland trials going plastic-bag free
Frozen food specialist, Iceland is testing new concepts to replace plastic bags in its ongoing strategy to reduce plastic waste.
The retailer will be conducting two different trials to determine the best replacement for plastic bags.
It will trial going plastic-free trial in its Hackney store. Plastic bags will be replaced with a range of other options. This includes paper carrier bags (10p), jute bags (£1) and Disney branded cotton bags (£1). There will also be small paper bags (free) for meat products.
Iceland has said the trials will save over 210,000 tonnes of plastic, over the six month period they run for.
