MRSZ: professional position statement on the draft law “On the Transparency of Public Life”
The Advertising Association has taken action: it submitted a statement to decision-makers.
The Hungarian Advertising Association has shared its professional opinion on the “Act on the Transparency of Public Life”, submitted to Parliament last week, with relevant parliamentary representatives and government officials.
The professional position paper – in line with the Association’s mission and objectives – draws decision-makers’ attention to the potentially severe and damaging economic consequences the proposed legislation could have on the advertising, media, and communications industries. The key concerns highlighted include: (1) a decline in advertising and media industry investments and developments; (2) the weakening of the communications sector, leading to reduced economic performance; (3) uncertainty around corporate social responsibility efforts; (4) distortion of equal market competition conditions; (5) a dramatic decrease in the market role and influence of domestic media; and (6) a reduction in the communications sector’s significant employment capacity.
The Hungarian Advertising Association and its partner industry organizations are calling on decision-makers to consider all of the above and make a responsible decision – specifically, that Parliament should not adopt the proposed legislation in its current form:
- Hungarian Advertising Association
- MRSZ OOH (Out-of-Home) Association
- Interactive Advertising Bureau Hungary
- Hungarian Publishers’ Association
- Hungarian Public Relations Association
- Association of Hungarian Communication Agencies
