From now on you have to pay in Lidl for something you didn’t pay for before
From next Monday (09.12.2022), you will also have to pay for the use of electric car chargers in Germany, not only in the parking lots of Lidl, but also in Kaufland stores. The charging fee corresponds to the market average – Villanyautósok.hu points out.

Customers need tp pay from now on to charge their cars
The decision was justified by the increasing number of electric cars and thus the number of charging stations in Germany, data on which were also published. Around 1,300 e-car charging points are currently operating at the Lidl and Kaufland stores operated by the Schwarz group. In 2020, one charger had an average of 4 charges per day at Lidl and 9 per day at Kafuland. Today, the average number of charges on Lidl’s chargers has risen to 15 and Kaufland’s to 20.
The income from the introduction of the payment system will support the maintenance of the existing charging infrastructure and the installation of new charging points. The company group’s plans are ambitious, by the end of the 2022 financial year, they want to add 1,800 new chargers to the current 1,050 charging stations at Lidl stores, so that from the spring of 2023, electric car customers can expect a charging station in a third of the 3,200 Lidl stores. In the case of Kaufland stores, the current 270 charging points would be expanded by an additional 380 by the end of the financial year, and from March 2023, a third of Kaufland stores would have charging facilities at 700 locations.
