Mono spices and paprika above the average
Sales of mixed spices which account for over half of the retail sales of spices showed stagnation in the February 2007 – January 2008 period. Sales of mono spices expanded last year. The overall market produced an expansion of 9 per cent in terms of value, exceeding HUF 16 billion. Hyper markets remain the primary sales channel with a market share of 31 per cent, while super markets also hold 30 per cent. Mono spices accounted for 62 per cent of sales in terms of value in the spice category. The market share of private labels has dropped from 47 per cent to 38 per cent.
