MOL survey: 83 percent of Hungarian drivers consider it important to use fuel from sustainable sources
For 83 percent of Hungarian drivers, it is important that the fuel used in their car comes from sustainable sources, especially for men and those over 50, Mol told MTI based on its nationally representative research.
Data published on the occasion of World Biodiesel Day on August 10 revealed that the current perception of switching to alternative fuels depends primarily on costs: the most effective incentive would be low price and cost-effectiveness, especially among the older generation and those with lower educational qualifications.
Analysts indicated, however, that young people and graduates are willing to pay a premium for the cleaner environment that comes with green fuels.
According to the analysis, the second most frequently mentioned motivation for the green transition is sustainability itself: reducing carbon dioxide emissions and preserving the ecological balance. These environmental and natural aspects were highlighted primarily by respondents aged 18–39 and graduates.
The statement states: 64 percent of the population agrees with the statement that state involvement and a supportive legal environment that encourages and supports manufacturing companies are necessary for the spread of alternative, sustainable fuels. The need for state involvement increases in parallel with the increase in age, educational level and settlement size.
According to the study, more than 80 percent of 30-39 year-olds are willing to travel on a biofuel-powered aircraft. This rate is similarly high among those with higher education – however, only 39 percent of those over 65 would travel on an aircraft powered by biofuel.
