MOHU: door-to-door collection of kitchen green and food waste will start in the country from January
Door-to-door collection of kitchen green and food waste will be gradually introduced in Hungary from January, the service, which can be used on a voluntary basis, will initially affect 14 settlements across the country – MOHU MOL Waste Management Zrt. (MOHU) informed MTI on Monday.
The system, which will start in the condominium zones of 14 cities – Budapest, Miskolc, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár, Szolnok, Kecskemét, Cegléd, Zalaegerszeg, Békéscsaba, Nagykanizsa, Tatabánya, Kaposvár, Gyula, Békés – is operated by MOHU and its contractual partners.
According to the announcement, those participating in the program will receive a 5-liter kitchen collection container for each apartment, which is easy to handle and odorless and leak-free. In addition, a 120-liter brown bin is also distributed to apartment buildings, which must be pulled out in front of the house in the usual way on the specified days.
A variety of organic waste can be placed in the kitchen green and food waste bin: for example, fruit and vegetable remains, coffee grounds, tea grass (but not the filter), spices, eggshells, leftover cooked food, baked goods or even processed food and meat products.
