The law governing the food chain is being amended
From February, the largest grocery stores will be obliged to offer food products to the Food Rescue Center Nonprofit Ltd. (ÉMK) at least 48 hours before the end of their quality preservation period – the Parliament decided to amend the law regulating the food chains on Tuesday.
The amendment to reduce food waste was passed by Parliament with 138 votes in favor and 1 against in an exceptional procedure on a government proposal.
Foods with a shelf-life and a shelf-life of less than 48 hours are not covered by the regulation.
The amendment only affects traders whose annual net sales exceed 100 billion HUF. (MTI)
