Mobile app helps truckers at Swiss Krono
Trucks are no longer standing in long lines at Swiss Krono sites since the Swiss-based timber company developed a timing application to end traffic jams. The company’s drivers can use their smartphones to reserve a time slot for loading before departure. The mobile application developed on the SAP Business Technology Platform is easy to use and is available in all languages spoken by the company’s employees – including Hungarian.

The application is available in Hungarian
Every day, 150-200 log trucks with semi-trailers or trailers travel to a Swiss Krono factory, usually transporting four-meter logs. Most of the carriers start early in the morning in the forest, and until recently they were all waiting at the entrance between 10 am and 12 am. It often happened that so many people drove to each plant at the same time that the jammed line already wasted on the access roads, many people parked on the highway. At the same time, Swiss Krono continued to grow, and as a result, there was less and less parking and storage space for the trucks transporting the wood to the plants. The managers wanted to find a unified intelligent solution for drivers, which could significantly reduce the time spent in unnecessary standing.
