MNB: almost two-thirds of the card purchases were contactless payments
The expansion of electronic cash flow in the first quarter of 2017 continued to rise: contactless payment has become dominant, 63 percent of the purchases were carried out this way, which meant almost half of the total turnover in value, the central bank announced on its website.
According to the data of the National Bank of Hungary (MNB), domestic transactions with domestic issuance cards amounted to 944 billion HUF in total, representing more than 134 million purchases, representing a 25 percent increase in transactions in number and in value, compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
