MLSZKSZ: 5 million tons of grain could come from Ukraine via Hungary every year
In Hungary, along the border – in Záhony and Fényeslitke – there is already a significant transhipment capacity, which, however, can be used to a very limited extent due to the condition of the railway track.
The Hungarian railway can play a key role in the supply of Ukrainian exporters to the world market, as well as in humanitarian and economic deliveries to Ukraine, which would mean an annual revenue of many billion forints for Hungary and the logistics sector in the coming years. Immediate development of cross-border rail infrastructure from government and EU funds is essential for this, otherwise neighboring countries will benefit from the opportunity due to changed transport routes.
