What do we put on the bread? The country’s big sandwich research has been completed
Practically, there is no compatriot who does not eat a sandwich more or less regularly, but according to a recent national research, seeing the large increase in the price of food, many people would switch from the ready-made version to the home-made version. The intention to switch is understandable, as this can save consumers hundreds of forints per piece, especially if, for example, they find a suitable alternative to expensive ingredients like butter.
Practically all of our compatriots eat sandwiches, only 4 percent of those surveyed do not consume this type of food – among other things, this is revealed by the results of Rama’s latest national representative research[1]. This type of food is most often eaten for breakfast and dinner, but there are also many who include it between main meals or at ten o’clock. The morning session is considered the most popular among people in their thirties, and the ten o’clock session among high school students. We eat it often: eight out of ten Hungarians eat a sandwich at least weekly, and a third of those interviewed are considered daily consumers.
The popularity of breakfast and dinner occasions may explain the fact that we most often eat sandwiches at home: three quarters of the respondents indicated this answer. More than half of the respondents eat sandwiches at work or at school, and 81 percent of high school students take such food to school.
