The Serbian government reduced the prices of about 700 products
In order to improve the living conditions of those in a worse financial situation, the Serbian government has significantly reduced the prices of about 700 products, according to reports, the prices of designated food and cleaning products will remain low from Sunday until the end of October.
The price of products (potatoes, apples, honey, ice cream, peas, diapers, shampoo, detergent, meat, fish, cold cuts, rice, eggs, cheese) decreased by an average of 26.82 percent, announced Prime Minister Milos Vucevic, who also announced that that households can thus save approximately 8-22 thousand dinars (27-74 thousand forints) per month.
The prime minister said that an agreement was reached with nine commercial chains, so that the products with the “best price” label will be available in more than 2,500 stores across the country, which will thus be available even cheaper than the discount prices.
Last September, the Serbian government also announced a similar action in order to mitigate the effects of high inflation. Then the prices of the products were reduced by about 30 percent between September and December.
