SPAR Hungary modernized three of its stores with approximately 1.4 billion forints
In March, customers were able to take possession of three renovated SPAR supermarkets: the company spent a total of approximately 1.4 billion forints on the transformation and energy modernization of each of its stores in Budapest, Csorna and Tatabánya.
“SPAR Hungary provides significant resources every year for the development of its existing stores: accordingly, we will continue our investment program this year as well. I am very pleased to report that the modernization of one of the busy SPAR supermarkets in Budapest, Csorna and Tatabánya was completed in March: we spent a total of 1.4 billion forints on all of these. What the investments have in common is that the previous sales area of the stores has become more attractive and modern, and in addition – in line with our company’s sustainability goals – each of our stores has also become more energy-efficient compared to the previous ones,”
explained Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary.
The capital city of the 21st century SPAR has invested HUF 771 million in the renovation of the supermarket at Csikó sétány 2 in the 1st district of Csepel. During the investment, SPAR updated the facade of the building. In addition, the refrigerated cabinets, vegetable racks, bakery furniture, rack systems and cash registers in the sales area were also replaced with new ones. In the store’s sales area, the fresh goods range will first welcome customers, who can choose from a wide range of fresh vegetables and fruits, convenience products, dairy products, delicatessen, meat products and locally baked baked goods. The appearance of the service counter and bakery was implemented according to the latest SPAR concept. The store’s novelty is the grill service counter, where locally baked delicacies and ready-made meals are offered to customers. Self-service cash registers will also help with quick and convenient payment after the reopening. The company provides a living for 22 employees in the store. The supermarket’s energy system was replaced with environmentally friendly solutions: the sales area is illuminated by energy-saving LED lamps. SPAR replaced the refrigeration technology with a new, environmentally friendly, carbon dioxide-based system, and the new refrigerated cabinets also arrived with doors.
SPAR carried out a total of 290 million forints of development in Csorna. During the cost-effective transformation of the store at 5 Erzsébet királyné utca, which employs 19 sales professionals, a larger fruit and vegetable department was added, the delicatessen and meat department and the milk coolers were moved to a new location in the sales area, where a grill unit equipped with a self-service warmer and offering fresh food will also await customers after the reopening. During the modernization, SPAR installed new refrigerated cabinets in the store, and a convenience refrigerated island offering convenience products was also added. The renovated store – in line with SPAR’s aspirations – has become much more energy-efficient than before: the technological refrigeration technology is a new, environmentally friendly, carbon dioxide-based system and the new refrigerated cabinets have doors.
