Consumer sentiment improved slightly in Europe
According to the preliminary data published by the European Commission’s Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN) on Monday, the sentiment index rose by 0.2 points to minus 4.9 points in the 19 countries of the euro area in December after a 1.1-point increase.
In the European Union’s 28 member states, the consumer confidence index improved by 0.3 points to minus 4.3 points in January, after the 1.2 point increase of December.
In January, consumer sentiment has improved for the sixth consecutive month which indicates that consumer spendings increased again that can improve the economy.
Household consumption gives more than half of the eurozone’s GDP. (MTI)
