IKEA pledges to use only renewable and recycled materials by 2030
IKEA, the world’s biggest furniture retailer, plans to use only renewable and recycled materials in its products by 2030.
Currently, 60 percent of the IKEA range is based on renewable materials, while nearly 10 percent contain recycled materials.
Inter IKEA joins a growing list of global companies striving to make their operations more environmentally sustainable.The world’s 250 biggest listed companies account for a third of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions, but few have concrete goals to limit rising temperatures.
In total, there are 418 IKEA stores across 49 markets IKEA Group set a so-called science-based target to cut the climate impact of stores and other operations by 80 percent in absolute terms by 2030 compared with 2016.
It would remove all single-use plastic products from its range and in-store restaurants by 2020, and that IKEA Group would roll out the sale of home solar solutions to 29 markets by 2025. (WeForum)
