All seasonal fruits are cheaper than they were at this time last year
According to the report of the Institute of Agricultural Economics, seasonal fruits are cheaper compared to last year, and the majority of vegetables did not increase in price based on wholesale market prices. Examining the offer in mid-June, the prices of several products decreased significantly compared to the same period of the previous year.
Fruit Price Changes
One of the most significant decreases can be seen in the price of cantaloupe, which, depending on the variety, cost an average of HUF 400-500 per kilogram, which represents a 26 percent price decrease compared to last year. The price of Germensdorf cherries is HUF 900 per kilogram, which is 10 percent lower than last year. The price of cherries is HUF 700 per kilogram, depending on the variety, which is a 17-27 percent decrease. The price of raspberries has also decreased, the price of HUF 2,150 per kilogram is 15 percent lower than last year.
Price change of vegetables
The prices of some vegetables have increased, such as cucumbers, dill, spinach, mushrooms and cauliflower. At the same time, the price of new potatoes has dropped significantly, now it costs only half as much in the wholesale markets as last year, an average of HUF 250 per kilogram.
The price of tomatoes, depending on the size, is HUF 410-450 per kilogram, which is almost 8 percent lower than in June 2023. Stuffed peppers are also offered cheaper, the price has dropped by 30-40 percent and currently ranges between HUF 415 and HUF 570 per kilogram.
