One in six gardens are led by young farmers
Horticulture is an important element of the government’s agricultural program, because in the EU financial cycle lasts until 2020 they would like to increase the number of rural jobs, and because horticulture is the most labor-intensive agricultural sector
The Central Statistical Office has published its analysis of the horticultural farm owners as the part of the processing of a previous agricultural census. The analysis shows that only one- sixth of the horticultural farmers could be considered as young. The ratio of young gardeners in 2013 was 12 percent; a total of 10.5 thousand farms were found, where the farmers’ age was under 40. (by our colleague)
