Honey consumption is promoted with honey breakfast in over 1000 schools and kindergartens nationwide
More than 1000 schools and kindergartens have joined the European Honey Breakfast program launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, the National Hungarian Beekeeping Association (OMME), the Agricultural Marketing Center and the National Agri Chamber in Tamási, Tolna County. Hungary joined the initiative launched in Slovenia in 2007. The purpose of the program is to raise children’s awareness of the health effects of honey and to introduce them to the most popular types of honey.
The European Honey Breakfast program was opened by Dr. Nagy István, Minister of Agriculture, at the Würtz Adam Elementary School in Tamási. As part of the Autumn Honey Campaign, local beekeepers will visit more than a thousand schools and nurseries across the country to educate children about the benefits of honey. The program will reach over 180,000 students and preschoolers.
