SPAR also helps its small producers with an application based on artificial intelligence
SPAR Hungary has further expanded its partner program for small producers: through the Treasures of the Regions, more than 600 new domestic products are now available in the stores. In addition, the company also provides professional support to its partners to further improve their development and market position, and has also developed a new application for more effective communication.
Hungarian food industry producers, family and small businesses, domestic products and innovations are of particular importance to SPAR Hungary. That is why the store chain launched the Treasures of Regions program in 2021 in order to bring high-quality, handcrafted products from local producers to the market. In Székesfehérvár, Zalaegerszeg, Hódmezővásárhely, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Győr, and Budapest, the company has made it possible for micro- and small-scale businesses, producers, craft companies, small wineries and breweries from the catchment area of these centers to sell their products for the given region. This gave the local partners the opportunity to deliver their high-quality products to the shelves of their SPAR stores within a radius of a few tens of kilometers of the given regional center, shortening the transport chains and causing as little environmental impact as possible. The companies participating in the program to help rural producers and small businesses collectively employ more than 600 people, and they also support job preservation and job creation in small regions where larger businesses are less present. SPAR Hungary currently distributes more than 600 products from 120 suppliers in its store network within the framework of the Treasures of the Regions program. In addition to dairy products, pasta, wine, cold meats, jams, and honey, the selection also includes cold-pressed oils, craft beers, wines, preserves, pickles, pasta, and sweets.
