Egg prices at the packing point have decreased in Hungary
According to data from the European Commission, the packing point price of table eggs in the EU was 214 euros/100 kilograms in the first thirty-one weeks of 2024, which decreased by 13 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
Based on KSH data, Hungary bought almost 13,000 tons of shell eggs (-8 percent) from the international market in the first five months of 2024, within which it delivered 11 percent more, 8,000 tons of fresh eggs. The export of shell eggs increased by 25 percent to 7,000 tons, within which the export of fresh eggs was 532 tons (+9 percent) between January and May 2024 compared to the same period of the previous year.
In Hungary, the price of eggs has decreased
According to the data of AKI PÁIR, the packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from cage keeping in Hungary was HUF 49.38/piece in the first thirty-one weeks of 2024, which was 18.8 percent lower than the average price of the same period in 2023. The packing point price of boxed eggs of size class M decreased by 17.6 percent to HUF 52.46/piece, and that of boxed eggs of size class L decreased by 16.0 percent to HUF 61.66/piece. The packing point price of M-tray eggs decreased by 21.7 percent to HUF 44.25/piece, and that of L-tray eggs decreased by 22.0 percent to HUF 47.26/piece. The packing point price of table eggs (M+L) from deep-laying was HUF 57.60/piece in the first thirty-one weeks of 2024, which is 16.3 percent lower than the average price for the same period of 2023.
