Plain sweet and household biscuit sales grew in volume as well
Sweet biscuit retail sales grew by 6 percent in terms of value, in December 2008-November 2009. Volume sales are stable at 25,000 tons, according to the Nielsen Retail Index. The annual sweet biscuit market is above HUF 23 billion; the plain sweet segment has a 40 percent value share (up 3 percent), while household biscuits are at 19 percent (up 1 percent). Private labels improved their share: from 38 to 40 percent. The most popular is the 151-200 g packaging size; average price per packaging unit was up at HUF 222 (from HUF 205).
