Milk price hitting bottom
Supply prices of agricultural products were down by 27.4 percent in February 2009, compared to the same month in 2008. The price of plant products was down by 37.2 percent, while that of livestock and animal products was down by 3.3 percent. Supply prices of grains were down by almost 50 percent as a result of a correction of the dynamic price rise which started in 2007. The price of potato was down by 8.8 percent, compared to February 2008. Supply prices of vegetables were up by 2.6 percent, compared to February 2008. Fruit prices were down by 37.9 percent in the same month, mainly as a result of a 45.3 percent drop in the price of apple. The 5.2 percent increase in the price of livestock intended for slaughter was mainly due to a 17.7 percent rise in the price of swine and a 12.1 percent rise in the price of cattle. the result. The price of milk was down by 28.3 percent, compared to February 2008, reaching HUF 65 per litre, the value last recorded in October 2006. The price of eggs was up by 2.5 percent in the same month, compared to February 2008.
