Apiculture Association: more than 300 apiaries reported bee mortality
More than 300 apiaries reported bee mortality in recent weeks. About 10 to 20 percent of the Hungarian beekeepers are affected by this problem, but the reasons are unknown at the moment – the chairman of the National Hungarian Association of Beekeepers (OMME) told M1 news channel.
According to Bross Péter, the destruction of bees is related to sunflower cultivation: where no sunflower is cultivated, beekeepers have no problems in such counties, such as the Transdanubian counties, Győr, Sopron, Vas, Zala or Nógrád counties. By contrast it is a problem in Jász-Nagykun, Békés, Fejér counties – he added. (MTI)
