AM: We protect the traditional rural lifestyle
Minister of Agriculture István Nagy also discussed the banning of artificial meat and the protection of traditional rural values in his office with Ettore Prandini, the president of the Italian producer organization Coldiretti, on Thursday.
The head of the ministry explained that Italy has banned the production and distribution of synthetic meats, which our country is also studying and considers an example to be followed. The issue of regulation is also on the agenda of Hungary’s EU presidency, because we want to have a wide-ranging dialogue on the subject. According to the minister, normality and the work of farmers, who stand with two feet on the ground, must be appreciated. Some of the people have distanced themselves from nature, and a pseudo-romanticism develops in relation to the living world. The majority of society must understand that without farmers there is no food and no future. That is why we are working on how we can restore social recognition for the host society.
István Nagy also touched on the fact that an unprecedented amount of funds are available to support investments in the domestic food industry
Our country also relies on Italian investors and technological know-how to implement developments. The meeting also discussed the management of market difficulties caused by Ukrainian agricultural products. In connection with this, the minister talked about the fact that the market is being taken over, and in this situation it is our duty to protect the interests of Hungarian farmers. It is an important principle for Hungary that food entering the Union from third countries must also comply with EU quality standards, he added.
