We have this year’s Ice Cream of the Year

This year, a record number of 90 ice creams were nominated in five categories – the winner of the main prize came from Balatonfüred

This year’s competition was once again organized as a “festival” by the Industry Board in the framework of a city event, where the competitors prepared their competition works in front of spectators so that consumers could learn more about the secrets of ice cream making. The competition took place from morning to early afternoon in a fully equipped ice cream laboratory with three professional freezers. This was followed by entertaining and at the same time educational presentations related to various ice creams, and a professional exhibition added color to the program.

On the Friday before Children’s Day, visitors were entertained by various children’s programs during the day, courtesy of our host, the City of Kecskemét County. In honor of the city, the Industry Board also announced a new category: the “Apricot ice cream category”. With this category, the professional association of confectioners wanted to promote the “Kecskemét Hungarian apricot” and the “Kecskemét peach pálinka”, listed as an outstanding national value in the Hungarian Valuables.
