Biogas was produced from unsold, expired beer stocks at the time of the coronavirus epidemic to power one of Australia’s wastewater treatment plants.

At the Glenelg wastewater treatment plant west of Adelaide, local breweries have converted millions of gallons of unsold, expired beer into renewable energy to provide energy for the water purification process in recent months, CNN’s U.S. news television website reported.

In the wastewater treatment plant, organic industrial waste is mixed with sewage sludge to produce biogas, which provides about 80 percent of the facility’s energy supply. (MTI)
