Food prices jumped at the European Parliament’s canteen
Officials have filed a formal complaint to the European Parliament in Brussels after experiencing an increase in canteen prices there – hvg.hu wrote after Politico. The price increase is 25 percent in some places, but this means that while a portion of soup cost eighty cents (about 250 forints), now it is one euro (320 forints).
The reason for the price increase is now they have to pay VAT, which they did not have before and from August a new operator took over the canteen.
A Polish worker pointed out that not only soup became more expensive, but also the salad and coffee. (Politico, Instant, hvg.hu)
