Infringement proceeding in the special tax case has been terminated
The European Commission has announced that they closed the infringement proceeding started in 2011 and will not initate the condemnation of Hungary by the European Court of Justice – the Ministry of National Economy (NGM) announced on Friday MTI.
According to the communication of the Ministry, the European Commission previously had the view that the retail tax is discriminatory, because it discriminates the foreign-owned businesses, and also said that a revenue-based tax cannot be progressive.
According to the NGM, from the committee's decision, it turns out that similar to the investigation on the special tax rules in the telecommunications sector, they do not consider it necessary to take the case to the European Court of Justice. (MTI)
