The aflatoxin content can be multiplied in milk products in Serbia
Serbia will allow the fivefold of the previous aflatoxin level in the milk products. The aflatoxin is considered to be carcinogen.
Previously, the amount of aflatoxin toxin in Serbia could not be more than 0.05 micrograms per kilogram – it is the EU limit. Now, however, this value was increased to fivefold in the Balkan State.
According to the Serbian Ministry of Agriculture, the farmers have not been able to prepare for compliance with the EU standards, while the flooding that hit Serbia in May further hardened the situation – so the standard had to be eased. (hirado.hu, Kossuth Rádió, Krónika)
