Magazine: Lemon juice brands: time separated the wheat from the chaff
Cold months, when vitamin intake becomes more important, are slowly but steadily approaching. One accessory of tea drinking, lemon juice is an important source of vitamins and a really seasonal product: in the winter months 25-30 more products are bought than in the summer. Vilmos Várkonyi, brand manager with Maspex Olympos Kft. informed us that in the last five years the market contracted by 16 percent and this trend affected both branded and private label products. Despite this negative trend Olympos managed to preserve its 52-percent value share of the market and remained the leading brand. Products with fruit content below 50% represent more than half of total consumption. Thanks to favourable developments on the world market, 1-litre 50% Olympos lemon juice will be available at a promotional price in the autumn season. Maresi has been the distributor of Limmi 99.99% lemon and lime juice for 5 years. We learned from Krisztina Kuti, brand manager with Maresi Foodbroker Kft. that in the past year demand for high quality lemon juice was on the rise. Limmi’s top quality products only contain natural ingredients and they do not only sell them through traditional retail channels, but also cooperate with the Bols Bartending Academy. Lemon and lime juice are perfect base material for making lemonades and cocktails. This summer was the first when Limmi organised tasting sessions in places other than retail units: at Római part and in Siófok we offered lemonades to people from two Piaggios, with great success.
