DSV’s environmentally friendly warehouse in Szigetszentmiklós has started operations
The world’s largest logistics and forwarding company, the Danish-based DSV, has reached another milestone in Hungary: the company’s newest, nearly 18,000 square meter warehouse in Szigetszentmiklós has officially begun operations. The new facility not only expands domestic capacities, but also offers environmentally friendly and future-proof logistics solutions, as revealed at DSV’s professional press event.
The largest globally: already in more than 90 countries, with nearly 160,000 employees
The history of the global logistics giant began in 1976, when nine Danish carriers founded the company De Sammensluttede Vognmænd, or DSV. In the early years, the company was mainly characterized by organic growth, and from the nineties onwards, organic growth was also supported by a series of acquisitions. The integration of Samson Transport, the Dutch Frans Maas and the American UTi Worldwide, among others, also strengthened the logistics company, and then the acquisition of the Swiss Panalpina and the Kuwaiti Agility brought it to the forefront of the world.
“The company’s latest and largest acquisition was completed on April 30, 2025: DSV acquired DB Schenker. The merger of the two logistics giants opens a new chapter in global logistics, but we are only at the beginning of this chapter,”
said Árpád Darvasi, Managing Director of DSV Solutions Hungary Kft. at the company’s professional press event in September 2025.
Globally, full integration is still underway, but it is already clear: with this step, DSV has consolidated its position in its industry for the long term. Today, the company provides full-range logistics services in more than 90 countries with nearly 160,000 employees. It already does all this as the world’s largest transportation and logistics company.
DSV at the forefront in Hungary too
DSV’s history in Hungary dates back to the mid-nineties: Frans Maas Hungária Kft. was founded in 1995, offering transportation solutions as part of the European road network. Following DSV’s acquisition of Frans Maas in 2006, the domestic subsidiary also became part of the Danish group, and from then on it continued to operate under the DSV name in Hungary as well.
“Over the past two decades, the domestic organization has continuously followed the international growth of the parent company: in 2016, UTi, in 2019, Panalpina, and in 2021, the Hungarian units of Agility GIL were integrated into the company. During the acquisitions, valuable and highly experienced colleagues joined the company, which further increased the company’s know-how”
– emphasized Árpád Darvasi.
