Hungarians' World Meeting began
Concerts, conferences, exhibitions, presentations, a beauty contest, quiz games and international cuisine will be included in the programme of the 4th world meeting of Hungarians to be held in Budapest, Opusztaszer and Szeged between May 18 and 25.
Chief organiser Laszlo Tanka, the founder of the Panorama World Club, told a press conference on Wednesday that Transcarpathia will be this year's guest of honour and the event's symbol is a puli dog that is supposed to “herd together” Hungarians from around the world.
A “global village” to be built in Budapest's Syma events hall will be the central venue of the meeting between May 23 and 25. Representatives of Hungarian communities from, among other places, America, Brazil, Sweden, Switzerland and France will be present at the “world club” pavilion, Tanka said.
The Opusztaszer heritage park in southern Hungary will host events on May 20 dedicated to “building bridges” between Hungarians living within the borders and beyond. A gala will feature the Magyar Vista Social Club.
