Hungary’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy (2025-2030) published
The government is doing everything it can to ensure that our country remains the winner of the technological transformation, which is why it has renewed Hungary’s Artificial Intelligence Strategy, which, while maintaining the main objectives of the strategy adopted in 2020 and taking into account the technological and legal changes of the past period, defines new measures for the period until 2030 – the ministry informed MTI on Tuesday.
The statement highlighted that in view of the rapid development of technology, the government will now review the renewed strategy annually.
It was recalled that the first Hungarian Artificial Intelligence Strategy was born in 2020. However, significant changes have occurred in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) in the period since then, new EU regulations have been created, technological development has accelerated, and the use of large language models has become widespread.
These changes represent both a challenge and an opportunity for Hungary. For example, the mass of false data generated by technology poses a challenge, and digital and data sovereignty is therefore of paramount importance.
Another challenge is that the most modern solutions are transforming the labor market and the operation of companies at an ever faster pace.
In the statement, State Secretary for the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Technology, Richárd Szabados, highlighted that the proper application of artificial intelligence makes work more efficient, which can be a competitive advantage for both Hungarian companies and the country.
The strategy was renewed in view of these changes, in order for Hungary to continue to be a winner in the technological transformation. The new document comprehensively formulates the economic, social and technological goals for the period between 2025 and 2030. The government will review the measures annually, taking into account technological innovations and the directions and pace of the development of artificial intelligence, they wrote.
The main objectives adopted in 2020 are still relevant today. The most important indicators of the new strategy therefore continue to target a 15 percent AI-induced GDP growth, a 26 percent average productivity increase in the Hungarian corporate sector, and the creation of 1 million higher value-added, AI-supported jobs (as a target to be achieved by 2030 compared to 2020 data), the statement said.
