African swine fever has appeared in Romania near the Hungarian border
African swine fever has been reported in Romania. The infectious disease was discovered by the authorities near Szatmárnémeti near the Hungarian-Romanian border in a backyard farm, the Romanian Veterinary and Food Safety Authority announced on Tuesday.
The disease has infected seven animals in two farms after having spread to one farm from another. The infected animals were burned. The Romanian authorities have taken action in the infected farms, any measures necessary to disinfect and prevent the spread of the virus, the Bucharest authorities informed the competent European bodies about the appearance of the virus in Romania.
