You can once again sell your unnecessary mobile phones, chargers and other gadgets at Auchan!
Auchan Hungary is joining the “Passzold Vissza, Tesó!” campaign of the KÖVET Association, the Jane Goodall Institute, the Védegylet Association and the Foundation for Africa for the third time. The aim of the initiative is to collect and recycle small electronic devices accumulated by the population – such as mobile phones, chargers and cables. These unnecessary devices can be returned to Auchan stores until May 22, of which nearly 3,000 were recycled last year.
The campaign began with Earth Day and will last for a month, i.e. until May 22. Until then, unused small electrical devices can be returned to all Auchan stores. In fact, they also collect in their logistics center and the company’s head office, in the latter primarily from employees. In the stores, the collection points have been set up in a clearly visible place, usually at the food entrances, where collection boxes have been placed.
What can you throw away?
Old mobile phones (smartphones and push-button devices), tablets, chargers, cables, earphones, pen drives, GPS, batteries and other small electronic devices.
With the collection, Auchan Hungary is once again supporting the further reduction of the number of devices that are stored unnecessarily at home and end up as waste. During last year’s campaign, they already achieved outstanding results: in the first year, in 2023, 1,510 devices were collected, and last year, double that number, nearly 3,000 devices, which shows that more and more people feel the importance of responsible electronic waste management.
Why is this important?
Unused devices are often considered hazardous waste, yet they often end up in the trash. For example, up to 17 types of metals – including precious metals – can be recovered from a single mobile device. Mining these is extremely environmentally polluting, so every recycled piece counts!
