Lidl Germany Extends Nutritional Education In Schools
German discounter Lidl has extended its nutrition education project ‘Lidl Fruchtschule’ (Lidl Fruit School) for the fourth year in a row, in order to teach children in primary school the importance of a balanced diet, in a playful way.
From June 5 to August 30, interested teachers, together with their classes, can apply at lidl.de/fruchtschule to take part in the Lidl Fruchtschule initiative, in cooperation with the ‘5 am Tag’ (5 a day) campaign.
Since last year, the project includes a module on the importance of biodiversity as well as the protection of insects.
Additionally, Lidl said that it is important to raise children’s awareness of the topic at an early age, because eating habits are shaped in the first ten years of life.
With this in mind, Lidl and ‘5 am Tag’ have visited 15,000 pupils in 600 schools over the past three years.
