The Food of Hungary – Mátyás Szamos Plate Dessert competition has been announced
The Food of Hungary – Szamos Mátyás Plate Dessert competition was announced on Thursday in Budapest. Entries are accepted until January 30.
Sölch Gellért, the Deputy State Secretary responsible for strategic affairs of the Ministry of the Interior, highlighted Advent as a time of waiting at the press conference of the competition: he sees the essence of dessert in patience and waiting, which leads to the fact that we can crown the meal with it.
“The competition can only be truly successful if it is based on the traditions of Hungarian culinary arts and Hungarian confectionery”
– he emphasized.
He added: there is a need for creativity and to renew all this from time to time, also using newer technologies. However, at Christmas time, when many people prepare a delicious cake themselves, we always go back to the old treasures that we take from our history and family tradition, this gives the finished food its true taste and joy.
He noted that the organizers and participants of the competition, in addition to professional preparation, are characterized by respect for Hungarian culinary culture and preservation of traditions.
