Sea freight traffic exceeded pre-crisis levels in January
World trade of container vessels increased in January, according to the IfW Institute for Economic Research in Kiel, the volume is already above pre-crisis levels, but 11 percent of current shipments are still hampered by congestion.
Turnover in January, seasonally and price-adjusted, based on IfW’s trade indicator, rose 2.4 percent from the previous month.
U.S. maritime exports rose the most in January, by 3.6 percent on a monthly basis, while imports fell 1.6 percent. EU exports rose 0.6 percent and imports fell 0.1 percent. (MTI)
