GVH and the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board have confirmed their cooperation

In order to avoid unfair commercial practices and to make the system of prior compliance more widely known and applied, the Economic Competition Authority (GVH) and the Self-regulating Advertising Board (ÖRT) signed a cooperation agreement. The leaders of the two organizations agreed that active support and education of businesses striving to comply with the law is key to preventing violations of the law.

In 2013, the Competition Culture Center of the Economic Competition Office and the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board signed a cooperation agreement. The new agreement signed on July 29, 2024, at the GVH headquarters, replaces this previous document.

The mission of the Economic Competition Office is to protect fair market competition and consumer rights. The activities of the national competition authority for the protection of competition are basically based on three pillars: in the course of its competition supervision work, it enforces the rules of the Hungarian Competition Act and EU competition law, in the context of competition advocacy, it tries to influence state decisions in the interest of competition with the means at its disposal, and in the interest of the social acceptance of competition, the competition policy contributes to the development of competitive culture by spreading knowledge and developing professional public life dealing with the economic and legal issues of competition.

The main mission of the Self-Regulatory Advertising Board is to promote the widest possible observance of good advertising practice in Hungary by operating the framework of self-regulation – mainly through preliminary norm control, complaint handling, monitoring tasks and education tools, knowledge of ethical standards and fair business organizations by operating its self-regulation practice. the support of its advertising practice.

Based on the agreement, the GVH and the ÖRT, in order to achieve their common objectives, in addition to presenting the results of their professional work, discuss key regulatory and social topics affecting advertising practice, hold joint forums and organize joint professional consultations, thereby helping those involved in the preparation and publication of advertising. the work of professionals. The common goal is to suppress deceptive commercial practices and promote real and verifiable advertising claims.
