The official dessert of the Vatican, Hallelujah ice cream, is coming to Hungary
The official dessert of the 2025 Jubilee Holy Year, Halleluja ice cream, will be available in Hungary from the end of March. The unique dessert will first debut in the Vatican on March 23, and ice cream lovers will be able to taste it in more than 250 cities in Europe, including two settlements on Lake Balaton – HelloVidék points out.
Italian masterpiece: Halleluja ice cream
The special ice cream was created by Vincenzo Squatrito, the famous Italian artisan ice cream master. The base of the dessert is gianduia, i.e. hazelnut chocolate cream, which is made even richer by the combination of roasted hazelnuts and chocolate. The first batch will be available in the Vatican, near St. Peter’s Square, and will then appear in major cities such as Vienna, London and Milan.
Will be available in Hungary too
According to information from Veol.hu, the Vatican’s dessert can be tasted for the first time in Hungary in two settlements on Lake Balaton, Balatongyörök and Balatonmáriafürdő.
In Balatongyörök, the Promenád Café, which was the winner of last year’s Balaton Fagyija award, has joined the campaign. The place is also preparing a special charity initiative: the proceeds from the second scoop of the first jar will be donated to the local church.
In Balatonmáriafürdő, the Florida Ice Cream Parlor is also participating in the campaign, so Halleluja ice cream will be available on both the northern and southern shores.
Other locations in Hungary
In addition to the settlements on Lake Balaton, the Vatican ice cream will also be available at the Damniczki Confectionery in Székesfehérvár and the Pataki Confectionery in Érd. The arrival of the dessert will not only bring excitement to dessert lovers, but may also have a positive impact on tourism, contributing to the extension of the Balaton season and the boost of local hospitality.
