KitKat bar version has arrived – The iconic sweet is available in three flavors
KitKat’s latest chocolate bars will be available in Hungary from September: double chocolate, hazelnut and salted caramel versions. The iconic brand, which is 90 years old this year, is opening a new chapter for Hungarian consumers, who can now enjoy their favorite sweets in bar form, with rich, creamy fillings and new flavors in addition to the usual combination of crispy wafer and delicious chocolate.
The new KitKat chocolate bar combines the brand’s classic, crispy wafer with creamy fillings and unique marbled chocolate, thus affecting multiple senses at once. The new packaging is not only for those who want to break away from everyday life with a quick snack, but also for those who are looking for a little indulgence to sweeten their after-work relaxation at home or their weekend moments together. With the new products, Nestlé intends to further strengthen the KitKat brand, while also responding to changing consumer needs.
The demand for chocolate bars in Europe is growing dynamically: the segment is currently worth 7.5 billion Swiss francs and has grown by more than 1.4 billion Swiss francs in the last two years. With a soft, creamy filling – developed at Nestlé’s innovation center in York – and a crunchy wafer, the KitKat chocolate bars are bringing a new dimension to this market.
Sustainability in focus
However, the launch of the new KitKat products is not only about the new flavors, but also about Nestlé’s continued commitment to sustainable and responsible cocoa sourcing. The company aims to ensure that the journey of the cocoa bean from the farm to the product on the shelf is fully traceable. The cocoa mass used for the new chocolate bars comes from producers supported by Nestlé’s Income Accelerator Program, launched in 2022, an initiative that aims to improve the livelihoods of cocoa farming families and reduce child labor.
In 2024, the program reached a new milestone: the number of cocoa farmers participating reached 50,000. The latest results show that the program is significantly strengthening the livelihoods of local communities: an independent evaluation by the KIT Institute showed that the yield of participating farms increased by 18 percent and their income by 15 percent compared to farmers not participating in the program, and an increasing number of farmers are also paying attention to supporting children’s education.
