Is it worth it?
I can only hope that the food scandals of recent weeks will serve as a warning to all players in the food market. They should consider carefully, whether short-term profits are worth risking consumer trust, which has been built up over years. Is the “uncertain quality = more profit” formula really a good one? Food production and trade is hazardous business which requires a sense of responsibility. Responsibility we are likely to forget about occasionally, under pressure for profit. Short–term solutions sometimes prevail over long-term strategies. I believe it is still not too late to act collectively, with well targeted, co-ordinated communication.
