Beef prices keep edging up
The Agricultural Economics Research Institute (AKI) continuously monitors and publishes world trends in poultry and meat products. Their last report reveals that on weeks 13-14 the entry price of slaughter pig in the ‘E’ trading category slightly increased in Hungary. Slaughter cattle production prices grew robustly in the last couple of weeks. The production price of raw milk was HUF 83.45/kg in the first quarter of the year – up 24 percent from last year. On weeks 1-14 11 percent more broiler chicken was bought from breeders and its live-weight production price was up 16 percent at HUF 239/kg. Domestic egg sales were down 17 percent; its sales price was HUF 15.77 per piece at the place of packaging (18 percent less than in the same period of 2010).
