Retail turnover continued to shrink in October 2007. According to KSH data, sales were 2,7 per cent down in the first ten months of 2007, compared to the same period in 2006, while the October figures showed a year on year drop of 4,1 per cent. Total sales in the retail sector amounted to HUF 4,939 billion in the first ten months of 2007. Sales of FMCG products showed a drop of 1,1 per cent in the first ten months. According to an Eurostat estimate, retail sales were 1,9 per cent up in the EU-27 countries in October 2007, compared to the preceding year. This increase was 0,2 per cent in countries of the EUR zone.
